 Monthly Feature Article-

What’s Next?
By Angela Willingham

We had not presented a new article on the New Beginnings website for several months. The last written article and audio recording talked about waiting. Now here we are almost three months later and things may not look the way we expected them to but some awesome things are still happening in the lives of many of us. Because we are about to embark upon a new year full of new and awesome opportunities we believed this is a great article to start out with.

  • Did you get what you were waiting for in 2010?
  • Does everything look like you thought it was going to look?
  • Are you still excited about the promise of God in your life?

I don’t know about you but nothing looks like I thought it was going to look, but I am still very excited. I have been through a time of purging and preparation for the future that God has for me and it has not been easy but I am excited about it. I am excited about what is to come. If we think about the fact that God knows what is best for us and the thing that we thought was so awesome is nothing compared to what He has for us there is no way to be anything but excited.

The question, “What Next?” keeps going through my mind? What does God have in store for my future and yours? Are we ready for it? Next implies a future and an opportunity to move into something new, a time of transition to a new beginning or a new season.

When you think about what is next in your life how do you feel? Are you concerned or depressed? Do you experience fear, dread, worry, confusion or anxiety? Personally, even though it is not what I would expect it to be, I am still excited. I am excited about the promise of it. 1 Corinthians 2:9, the scripture says, 9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”[a]

Jeremiah 29:11, makes it clear that it is already planned so we need to be careful not to decide for ourselves. Jeremiah 29:10-14 says, 10 This is what the Lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. 12 In those days when you pray, I will listen. 13 If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. 14 I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.” The scripture implies that there is a specified time for your waiting and then He will deliver what He promised. We all have to be careful because Proverbs 12:15, is clear, 15 Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. Nobody wants to be considered a fool because they went their own way.

The key to what is next depends on how you live now? Are we being obedient to God and the things He has asked us to do or are we doing our own thing? Because we are not perfect, I think all of us find ourselves getting off track on occasion, but the question we have to ask ourselves is are you consistently off track or just off every once in a while?

What’s Next For You?

  • A New Job
  • A New House
  • A New Baby
  • A Ministry
  • A New, Renewed or Restored Relationship
  • Success in your fitness efforts

What has God promised you?

Even if your future does not look like you expected it to and God has you on a course correction, make the correction and move with God and His ultimate plan for your life realizing that He knows what is best for you. Remember that if God promised you something, He keeps His promises. Isaiah 14:24-27, makes it clear. Who Could Ever Cancel Such Plans? 24 -27God-of-the-Angel-Armies speaks:
 "Exactly as I planned,
it will happen. Following my blueprints,
it will take shape. I will shatter the Assyrian who trespasses my land
and stomp him into the dirt on my mountains. I will ban his taking and making of slaves
and lift the weight of oppression from all shoulders." This is the plan,
planned for the whole earth, And this is the hand that will do it,
reaching into every nation. God-of-the-Angel-Armies has planned it.
Who could ever cancel such plans? His is the hand that's reached out.
 Who could brush it aside?

Know that your what’s next may come with a struggle and challenges because the enemy of your future and mine is not going to allow us to move in to that thing that God has for us easily. He is going to pull out all of the stops to try to hinder your progress, but you and I have come to far to quit. Persevere, press through, keep pushing to reach that thing that God has for you, because knowing our eternal future should give us faith, hope and courage:

    • To press forward in this life.
    • To endure hardship.
    • To avoid giving in to temptation.

This world is not all there is. What we have already experienced is not the end the best is yet to come. Think about it, what is the best thing that you have experienced so far? Imagine that is nothing compared to what God has for you. 1 Corinthians 2:9:
9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”[a]

I heard something on TBN the other day. The gentleman said that the enemy knows the future God has for you and he is going to do everything he can to stop you from walking in it. Enter a storm in your life. Your storm could be a situation or a relationship. He went on to say that if the enemy gets so excited about what is going on in your life to attempt to come after you, that is an indication of the power God has in you. You need to start getting excited and shouting yourself. Shout and praise God for what is next. The new thing, the new opportunity. You may not be able to see everything but you can trust God and that is what He wants, for us to trust Him.

Scripture:

1 Corinthians 2:9:
9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
 and no mind has imagined
 what God has prepared
 for those who love him.”[a]

 Encouragement From Queen-

Step Out On Faith
By Queen Lacey

It may not be easy to step out on faith
The flesh says wait, but the spirit says don’t hesitate
What God has for you is for you
So take that grain of mustard seed and do what God told you to do
We put our trust in man for a check, yes indeed
But doesn’t the Word state its God that supplies our every need
Things may start out slow, it may even seem like things aren’t going right
But you’ll appreciate things more if it’s hard work and not becoming a success over night
The Work states to keep your confidence in God and not in man
There will be haters but He will give you those that will help any way they can
So lunge out in to the deep and stop blocking your blessings by staying on the shallow end
Know your steps are ordered by God, so walk in faith and completely trust Him

50 lbs Disappeared!
www.justlikemefitness.com
Your Fitness Angel
Simple 50 Pound Slim Down
How would you like to be 50 or more pounds lighter 12 months from now? Yes, I said 50 or more pounds. (I might consider getting a little weight loss competition going on with my angels that are trying to lose 50 or more pounds. Let me know what you think, by e-mailing me at carroll@justlikemefitness.com )

50 pounds comes out to about 3 pants sizes. Can you believe that?

Can you image how you would look 3 sizes smaller? Do you want me to tell you, because I will. Take it from Your Fitness Angel-You'd look like a whole new, younger, skinnier person.

Trust me, it's actually much easier than you think.

I'm not talking about invasive, costly surgery, dangerous pills or potions, or grueling routines.

All it takes is losing one pound each week. One little pound. So imagine if you did even more than that-50 could become 75.

Hang with me for a minute and I will break it down mathematically. A pound is 3,500 calories—spread that over 7 days and you need a 500 calorie deficit each day to lose 1 pound in a week.

Your 500 calorie deficit can be done by a combination of increased calorie exertion (exercise) as well as a decrease in calories consumed (eating less).

Follow these steps:

  • First, record your normal weekly exercise – look at everything from walking to participating in sports to exercising in the gym. This is your starting point. From here you'll need to burn an additional 3500 calories on top of your normal weekly exercise.

If you don't currently exercise, then any new activity will count towards your 3500 calorie weekly goal.
  • Second, record your normal weekly food intake – this may be an eye-opener when you see how many calories you eat in a day. Record everything honestly, since you are only cheating yourself by not recording everything. If you ate a candy bar, write it down. Calculate the total number of calories that you eat in an average day.
  • Now divide the 3500 calories between your activity list and your food list. You could choose to eliminate 1000 calories each week and burn off an additional 2500. Or you may decide to burn 3000 calories and eat 500 fewer calories.

Here are 7 simple ways to cut 250 calories:

  1. Drink plain coffee instead of a sweetened holiday coffee drink. Flavored coffee drinks are delicious but filled with way too much sugar. Drop 250 calories (or more) when you stick with plain coffee or tea instead of sugar-filled holiday coffee drinks. For the record it does not have to be a holiday coffee drink, it could just be any flavored coffee drink. Flavor is sweetened and you will pay for it in empty calories.
  2. Just say NO! to the holiday treats. A single slice of fruitcake, okay maybe not fruitcake, maybe it was fudge, but you get the point. Avoid the holiday sweets. They may seem innocent enough, besides everyone is eating them at the office meeting, why shouldn't you? Because you know that all those holiday treats are packed with fat and calories. For each tempting treat that you refuse to eat, andyou are on a mission. Imagine the 250 calories falling off of your waistline or your butt, and smile to yourself.
  3. Jog for 30 minutes. Want in on a little secret? The hardest part about a simple 30 minute jog is the act of getting your shoes on and walking out the door. It's true. If you can't jog, walk, but get moving. A treadmill will allow you to adjust the speed if you don't want to just go outside to walk or jog.
  4. Exchange 20 oz of regular soda for water. It would be good idea to skip the soda all together, but I understand this is a process. You know that soda is filled with tons of sugar, so why are you still drinking it? Every time you crave an ice cold cola picture swallowing spoonfuls of white sugar. That's probably the easiest way to gain weight. Stick with water and kiss those extra calories goodbye. I have had clients that lost 10-20 pounds quickly because soda was their enemy. They thought drinking a couple bottles a day was normal. Let me tell you that if you want to increase your weight it is, but if you want to decrease/lose weight you need to cut out the soda and watch your weight drop.
  5. Swim laps for 30 minutes. If your response to my jogging suggestion was ‘I have bad joints', then you are in luck. Swimming is one of the best aerobic activities you can do, and it is impact-free. When you swim you recruit your entire body, a process which requires lots of energy—AKA calorie burn. Do not start talking to me about your hair, I am talking about your health.
  6. Eat an apple instead of a cookie. Do you always go for something sweet after dinner? While your first instinct may be to reach for a cookie or a bowl of ice cream, why not consider what nature has to offer? Fruit is sweet, natural and lower in calories than traditional desserts. I know you may want the cake or cookies, but think about it, they are not your friends and will not help you reach your 50 plus pound goal or even your 10 pound goal. Trust me on this.
  7. Come give my fitness routine a try. I have the whole calorie-burning equation down to a science, and I'd love nothing more than to help you achieve your fitness goal. My workouts have been known to burn up to 500 calories at a time, so what are you waiting for? E-mail me carroll@justlikemefitness.com

Losing 50 pounds in 12 months is very possible. Simply use the tips above to create your daily 500 calorie deficit and you'll be shedding the weight in no time. You can trust me, I am Your Fitness Angel and I would not steer you wrong or lead you down the wrong path.

And if you are in the Phoenix, AZ area and you'd rather have me do most of the work for you, then email me to set up your no obligation consultation or check the news item below that tells about my fitness classes. I would love to have you join us.

When you work with me, there's a good chance that those 50 pounds will come falling off in less than 12 months. I will help you make it happen through fun and encouraging workouts designed just for you. That wouldn't be so bad, would it? You get me Your Fitness Angel and you get to lose weight. Who could ask for more?

 What Have You Been Reading?

I just finished reading Hill Harper's book, "The Conversation". I liked it.

I liked his honesty and his getting other people talking about relationships and the things we struggle with in them. I think it is time for all of us to be real about ourselves and the things that are going on that are keeping us from having long, loving, trusting relationships and I really believe it starts with The Conversation. We have to start talking to each other, not just having as was stated in the book Acquaintance then Intimacy. We need to have Acquaintance, Friendship then Intimacy (marriage). To many people are having sexual relationships with people they don't even know and once they get to know them they don't even like each other. It's time to start using our minds to help develop relationships, through conversation. I think we have lost that.

Check it out and encourage yourself.

Many of you have read some awesome books that have really ministered to you, spiritually, emotionally, relationally or physically. Let us know what you have been reading by writing to us on the message board. Your recommendations might help someone else. Please let us know if you have read some good Christian fiction as well. Many of those books have awesome messages contained within them and we want to encourage people to grow spiritually any way they can.

 Word of Encouragement-

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by Marsha Burns -- 12/28/2010:
Refuse to allow discouragement and confusion to cloud your vision. The temptation will be to sink down into a place of lethargy that will border on hopelessness. But, I tell you honestly that the enemy is provoking you to believe lies that have the potential of disabling your spiritual progress. Don't believe him, but rather push through this shroud of darkness until you can once again see the light of truth, says the Lord.
John 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
Taken from the Spirit of Prophecy Bulletin dated 12/28/2010.
Every thing may not look the way you think it should look, but that does not mean God is not still in the plan and working out your situation. Trust Him to resurrect dreams and to move you in to the position that He promised and always remember that there is nothing and I mean nothing that is to hard for God.

New Beginnings Scripture for January 2011

1 Corinthians 2:9:
9 That is what the Scriptures mean when they say,
