Who are we?
New Beginnings/Temple Time is a wellness ministry established in 2002 by Carroll Roberts to offer a holistic approach to fitness that includes mind, body and spirit. A wellness ministry also serves to help people help themselves through physical and spiritual exercise and health education. At New Beginnings we believe good health is a gift from God and can be obtained by following biblical principles as we lead a balanced life physically, mentally, spiritually and relationally

About our Founder and CEO
Carroll Roberts the founder and CEO of New Beginnings,Health and Fitness Ministry, Inc. is a Certified Personal Trainer, with over 16 years of experience. He believes that this ministry is God ordained. It is his mission to see individuals physically, spiritually, emotionally and relationally fit and to win souls to Christ through the health and fitness ministry. He has focused his personal training career on working with plus size women, helping them to reach their weight loss goals, to gain self-confidence and to grow spiritually. Mr. Roberts has a powerful spiritual gift of encouragement, which he utilizes to encourage those who may feel like giving up to push a little harder until they reach their God directed fitness goals. His genuine concern for his clients has made him a highly sought after personal trainer.

Foremost, he is a strong believer in Jeremiah 29:11-14, that God placed us here for a specific reason. We all have a purpose, and it is up to us to realize what that purpose is.  For additional words of encouragement from our founder and CEO contact TheMasterBuilder@mynewtemple.org.

Exercise and Nutrition

EXERCISE…………STRESS RELIEVER FOR BODY, MIND & SPIRIT

If a car is not properly maintained with regularly scheduled oil changes, tire checks and tune-ups, it will break down on you at the most inconvenient time. Like a car, your body can fall apart also, if not properly maintained; for example, heart disease, high blood pressure, sugar diabetes, arthritis and even mild depression are all illnesses of the body when it is not maintained properly.

If you have not exercised in a while, the first step is to check with a physician. When you get the okay, you should start out walking for 15-30 minutes a day, 3 days a week. Increase your time and distance when you feel comfortable. There are several different things you can do, cycling, aerobics, yoga, skiing, jogging, swimming, etc. For maximum results, Temple Time Fitness recommends a combination of all three (cross train) to avoid overworking certain muscles and to ensure a total body workout.

Cardio: cycling, jogging, swimming (fat burning exercises)
Strength: weights (keep the muscles strong)
Flexibility:  yoga and calisthenics (keeps the body limber

Remember to consult your medical physician
before starting any fitness program

Nutrition
From the day you were born you have been building your body with the air you breathe and the food and drink you consumed as the materials to build a healthy body. If you eat well you will build a strong, healthy body. If you have been eating a large amount of fat, sugar, alcohol and processed foods, your body will run at half its potential. It’s like building a car out of cardboard or steel. Which one would you want to drive!!!!!

Here is a list compiled from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Dietary Guidelines for Americans:

  • Eat a variety of foods

  • Maintain a healthy weight.

  • Choose a diet low in fat, saturated fat and cholesterol.

  • Choose a diet with plenty of vegetables, fruits, and grain products.

  • Use sugars only in moderation.

  • Use salt and sodium only in moderation.

Don’t eat any more than your body can handle! The extra gets stored as fat. Schedule your meals so that you spread your food intake out over the day. If you eat too much at one time, especially at night, your meal will tire you out, rather that energize you. We realize that most people are very busy, and would rather stop at a fast food restaurant. However, it would be wise to take a few extra minutes in the morning, or at night to fix a healthy snack or lunch.

Spiritual Fitness
The bible in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, that our bodies are the Temple of the Holy Spirit. We are not our own, we have been bought with a price and we should glorify God with our bodies. We are responsible for taking care of the temples God has entrusted to us. Many of us have let them get out of shape or we put anything into or on them without a thought about what God thinks. We are responsible for taking care of our bodies/God’s temples in a way that honors and gives Him glory.  2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, He is new creation, old things have passed away; and behold all things have become new.”

Focus on the things in your life that need to be changed. Over this month New Beginnings/Temple Time is challenging you to ask God to show you where you need to change and to provide you with the direction guidance you need to accomplish the task. Remember your changes do not look like anyone else, because you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Journal what God reveals to you. Maybe it is the way you eat, maybe you need to increase your level of exercise, maybe you need to develop some new habits and break some of the old ones, maybe He wants you to spend more time in fellowship with Him studying your bible and in prayer, whatever He shows you we encourage you to be obedient over the month of November to make the appropriate changes.

Ask God to provide you with some people to hold you accountable. As you begin to do what God tells you to do you will begin to see changes in not only your outward appearance but also in your inner person. We look forward to seeing the butterfly that has been wrapped in the cocoon of safety emerge. (Don’t forget to journal your thoughts and the things God is showing you throughout this process whether it be in the area of physical, spiritual, relational or emotional fitness-one can affect the other.)

Relational fitness
What do your relationships look like? Are they godly? Are they self-serving? If they are out of order (not in alignment with the will of God for your life) do you know why? Can they be improved? What are you willing to do to improve them?

If the relationships you are involved in are God ordained relationships, don’t give up give them to God. Pray for yourself first, that God will give you the guidance and direction you need to work them out. If you are finding fault with the other person ask God to show you compassion for them. Study Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.  Lean not to your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and allow Him to direct your path.” Trust that He will work it out and focus your attention on doing your part.

Our Mission Statement
Our Mission is to draw individuals to Jesus Christ through the Ministry of Health and Fitness and to see the Body of Christ become fit in all areas by providing tools and information to empower you to succeed.

New Beginnings is dedicated to helping you gain personal, spiritual, physical, mental and relational fitness by developing the courage and confidence necessary to set and achieve goals based on biblical principles.

Most people encounter difficulty reaching goals, sticking with a diet or completing a task by trying to make an outward change without having made any inward spiritual changes.

In other words, all improvements in your life begin with a change in your mind and spirit
