Do What's Right (Part 3)
by James Bowman
When you change your performance,
YOU CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!!!
(Deuteronomy 8:3) He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
This was the verse that Jesus quoted when the devil tempted him to turn stones into bread (Matthew 4:4). Many people think that life can be satisfying if they can earn enough money to dress, eat and play in a high style of living. To put it simply they think they are living “the good life.” But such things in the end leave us empty and dissatisfied. Real life comes through total commitment to God, the one who created life.
Conclusion
Changing your way of thinking will bring a change in your life when you allow God to take control and you make a commitment to be obedient to his word.
Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers (Deuteronomy 8:3).
Deuteronomy 8:1 tells us to obey God’s commandments, we can do this with:
Our Hearts…. By loving him more than any relationship, activity, achievement, or possession.
Our Will…. By committing ourselves completely to him.
Our Mind….By seeking to know him and his Word, so that his principles and values form the foundation of all we think and do.
Our Body…. By recognizing that our strengths, talents and sexuality are given to us by God to be used for pleasure and fulfillment according to his rules, not ours.
Our Finances…. By deciding that all of the resources we have ultimately come from God, and that we are to be managers of them and not owners.
Our Future…. By deciding to make service to God and man the main purpose of our life’s work and walk.
Reread the conclusion. What area is pulling at you right now?
Is the New Beginning God has for you spiritual, relational, physical, emotional or financial? No matter what your area of need may be, know that God has it is His power to provide for you.
On our own none of us is perfect, but God is perfecting us as we submit our will to His will and commit to a life of obedience and submission to Him.
Weekly Encouragement Scripture
Deuteronomy 8:3, “Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land that the LORD promised on oath to your forefathers.”
