Thanksgiving 2005
This is the week of Thanksgiving. A time when we are known to celebrate and give thanks by spending time with family and friends over turkey and stuffing (dressing), pumpkin or sweet potato pie. All the special foods that we only get at Thanksgiving will be laid out on the table for us to enjoy.
What usually happens at these family gatherings? We tend to eat too much. We tend to stay at the table too long. We tend to have to loosen our belts to give us more room to breathe in and out.
The bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
While all the food will look good, smell good and taste good and you have the option of eating whatever you want God has given you control of it, not given it control of you. If you want to have it, have a smaller serving. If you choose to overeat make sure it is your choice not something you did by accident.
If you have not already done so add a new tradition to your family Thanksgiving an after dinner walk, a family/group workout. Click here to send us an e-mail request for one of our Gospel Aerobics videos to guide your workout.
If you choose to blow it this Thanksgiving and eat whatever you want, if you choose not to workout, be aware that you still have the control and ability to start over tomorrow.
